Scottish Television ident (1962)

Some television presentation is designed to tell you what programmes are coming up. Others might tell you the time.

This ident, on the other hand, tells you what country you are in — just in case you found yourself sitting in your front room and suddenly wondering where you are.

  1. London Weekend Television idents went one better, confirming not just that you were in London, but also that it was the weekend.

Unless you weren’t or it wasn’t, of course…

  2. This was possibly to contrast with the BBC at the time which had content nearly all generated from south of the border, apart from maybe a Scottish news bulletin and “The White Heather Club” whose name says it all really about how twee it was.
