The LA Times (BugMeNot required) says that Google could be launching an Instant Messenger — tomorrow. Which would be interesting. Messenger is one of the only things (the only thing?) that MSN is better than everybody else at.
I found that article via Onlineblog, which touches on the fact that there will be the usual concerns about privacy with those Google Ads, until everybody just says ‘who cares?’ and gets on with life as normal, plus Google Messenger (which is exactly what happened with Gmail — is there anybody out there who still cares about the so-called privacy issues there).
Of course Google have a massive barrier to entry to the IM marketplace – how do they launch a product that uses the Google Instant Message Protocol or GIMP?
