Shuffle

Ryan Morrison’s iPod reads his mind. Lucky him!

I don’t have an iPod (I’ve got my lovely iRiver instead!), but I do have iTunes. And the random mode is rubbish.

Why does it keep on choosing the same albums? Does it really like Gorillaz’s first album that much? Why is it so eager to play Classics by The Aphex Twin?

Mind you, having iTunes is good. I’ve had time this week for a change, to listen to all sorts of crazy stuff… From Björk to King Adora with all the usual crazy electronic stuff in between. It’ll be interesting to see my Audioscrobbler chart this week.

  1. The itunes shuffle mode does seem strange. There’s definitely some kind of weighted bias towards its picking of songs instead of being purely random. Which is ok in theory if it plays similar songs or songs from the same album, but when you have 2,000+ songs, you sometimes want those forgotten songs played, and not yet another of your brother’s Cure songs.
