Burns Day

Interesting doctorvee-fact. I’ve never had haggis. But vegetarian haggis is very yummy! I’m not a vegetarian though. It’s a consequence of my parents’ beef ban. Even though BSE seems to have disappeared of the face of… well, this island at least, my parents have banned me from eating any cows since 1989. No recipes for haggis I’ve ever seen ever mention cows though. It’s all to do with sheep. Hmmm…

  1. Had some yesterday lunchtime – see my blog for the full, tedious story :-). Took until yesterday evening for my stomach to come to terms with it.

  2. Well, the good news is that you’re over 18 so you can eat what the hell you like. You’ll have to buy and cook it yourself, of course…

    Nice tasty steak..mmmmmm

  3. For the full haggis experience, I’d recommend Tempting Tattie on Jeffrey Street. They do extraordinarily big baked potatoes (don’t be deceived by the ‘regular’, ‘medium’ and ‘large’ deescriptions – the regular’s more than ample), and their best filling is undoubtedly haggis and neeps. It’s especially good if you’ve time to spare before a train at nearby Waverley Station. It’s not classy, but it’s delicious…
