I just found out, thanks to this post on PooterGeek, that the proposed religious hatred law won’t actually apply in Scotland. Which makes sense really.
Sometimes devolution is the most confusing thing in the world. No matter how many times this happens, I always fall into the trap of caring passionately about an English-and-Welsh law. And all that time on the 6 O’Clock News they spend on stories about laws that don’t matter to me, or studies that concentrate on England-and-Wales.
From now on I must think: Does this apply to Scotland? That will save a lot of hassle, and maybe it will add five minutes or so to my life expectancy.
Still. That bloody religious hatred bill, eh?
