A new incentive to get people to vote
21 April 2007, 00:06
I just want to say how much I love this little Flash animation trying to persuade people to vote. I highly doubt that it will persuade anyone to vote, but it was still worth it for the pure entertainment value.
Details I love include the condescending tone of voice. This animation has clearly been designed to make even the stupidest people want to vote, but ignores the fact that such people will be snookered as soon as they have to work out how the two different voting systems both work.
Then there are the crazy space-cars (check out the way the orange car parks at the beginning!) and the cute postcode on the polling card: STV1 2AMS. Ah, and “PLEASE DO NOT FOLD THEM”. A very polite way of shouting.
But best of all is the fact that everyone looks as though they are on acid. It also comes complete with psychedelic election coverage on the television. Look at those moving graphs! I hope the Beeb’s actual coverage is like this.
