How Robert Kubica survived

RTL and the FIA have produced a detailed CGI reconstruction (Quicktime stream, also available in Windows Media format) of Robert Kubica’s horrific crash at the Canadian Grand Prix. The video allows you to see in detail exactly what happened during the crash. Meanwhile, the parts of the car that saved Kubica from any serious injury blink orange. According to the Forumula1 blog, Bridgestone have opted to take the soft and super-soft tyre compounds to Montreal. Presumably they have remembered what happened to the tyres there last year. David Coulthard said it was the worst dry-weather conditions he had ever raced in.

Fidgeting

BBC News: “Fidgeters ‘likely to be thinner’”. Shock: People who spend their whole time moving are using up energy. I once heard (probably on Dr Karl’s excellent science phone-in on Up All Night) that if you sit on a bench fidgeting for 24 hours you will use up as much energy as running a marathon.

Silversprite has another interesting post about Facebook. He is right about Friends Reunited. Here is something for ITV to ponder: I had never visited Friends Reunited until today (and then, it was only to see if it was really that bad. My conclusion: reminds me of Orkut). That’s because when I heard that you had to pay for it, I thought, “What’s the point?” ITV definitely bought the wrong website there.

The exams are finished. I won’t write about them, because that might just send me into a spiral of depression. The summer is what matters now, and I have lots up my sleeve including sleep, installing WordPress 2.2 and designing even more unsettling colour schemes.

I saw that lawyer from the Govan Law Centre being interviewed on The Politics Show today. But Glen Campbell didn’t ask him the question that I and surely many other viewers were begging him to: “Are you not just an ambulance chaser?”
