Not to discredit the brilliance of Ross Brawn or Jenson Button, it's nice to see a brand new leader in the F1 circus. It's just difficult to believe that 2 end of the pack teams like Honda (Brawn) & Red Bull can suddenly become front runners while the two premier teams Ferrari & McLaren are suddenly relegated to mid-pack. Could aerodynamics be responsible for all of this difference? Isn't McLaren running the same powerplant as Brawn? With all of their massive resources are we to accept that McLaren & Ferrari haven't been able to cobble together some sort of improved aero package to allow them to compete? To me, this smells a bit like a Bernie conspiracy to try to create interest in a sport that is suffering from flagging public support.

Ok.... but how will you explain Red Bull team running a Renault engine on the back is kicking up dust on Ferrari and McLaren? Is it because the RBRs also bluffed like BrawnGP? Forget all these... Toyotas who were the first to exploit the diffuser loop hole is no where near the consistent performance exhibited by BrawnGP. Is it because Toyota agreed to conspire with BrawnGP by under performing? Yes Ross Brawn must have pulled a few strings, put his brain to look at which struggling team has the best line up of talented drivers and a strong chassis : bought the team, made the best engine supplier to agree to supply for his team, interpreted the laws copiously to come up with a credible racing package. That is business acumen, and if you have a problem with that, that is because your ego doesn't allow to believe that humans can be brilliant also sometimes, unlike you! {BTW Ferrari just used to do that and nobody seemed to bother.}

Of course Button's win in 2006 was a fluke. He hadn't won prior to that and 2+ years later he finally won again (and again...). So yeah, his first win was a fluke. A deserving fluke? You bet. That's why wet racing conditions brings out the best in motorsports.

Nice article - it explains a lot of the background that a lot of fans may not have been aware of
