I don't see there being too many problems with the eliminator format - it stops there being say 20 cars on the track in the final minute of qualifying. It's this ridiculous problem of cars touring back that's really annoying - is someone going to have a huge smash coming out of the Monaco tunnel for instance before they change the rules?

The thing about race fuel qualifying is that I used to think that it prevented everyone from using similar strategies (and with overtaking difficult without needing pit stops that would result in very little changes in the running order) - but I'm not so sure its a good idea.As you say , the compromise might have also widened the gap as slower cars will be on a non-optimal strategy to get them into the high position.

How's this for qualifying idea - have three 15 minute sessions as before.Get rid of fuel qualifying - say the cars can run on any fuel load they choose and any tyres at all. Each driver can have as many attempts as they like - their best time from each of the three sessions is then taken to make up the grid.Seems too simple for the FIA to implement this .
