Name may be a bit silly...but to be perfectly honest i couldn't give a rat's arse about the naming, the channel has repeats of QI an Top Gear and therefore is a good edition to freeview in my books.

Although the restriction of UKTV History's hours is disappointing...

[...] DoctorVee had yet another interesting post, the last non-F1 post about television - specifically the new channels that are popping up and leaving every couple of days. [...]

I agree with you 100% about A Question Of Sport. It's horrible. Why would anyone want to sit and watch The Popular Kids At School slap each other's backs sand make in-jokes for half an hour?

I must confess, I was a bit of a fan of Mark Lamarr on Buzzcocks. The new chap (who looks barely out of nappies) is a pale imitator. Although I'd always put the spiteful attitude down to a stage persona, The Adam Buxton blog post does have an interesting insight.

I think ABC1's biggest problem was that it was very hard to find listings for it, so there was never any desire to go looking for it.

And I think Dave's a silly name, but I do hope they have the rights to a certain Kevin Kline movie, just so they can announce 'Next on Dave, <em>Dave</em>'

I love the name Dave - I think its a clever idea for a short term marketing stunt - long term I think it would get dull so lets hope it IS only short term.

I agree with Craig though - the UKTV channels do have the best mix of content at the moment which is a REALLY bad statement on new shows being produced.

Of all the British networks there seems to be no more than about 8 or 9 shows per season (autumn, winter, summer, spring) that are worth their salt.

We're a creative nation - we should be doing better than this.

The UKTV Gold channels are the best around at the moment, though the rebranding of G2 as Dave is a waste of time and money. I think it will change again soon.

As for A Question of Sport, I really like it - or did when Ally McCoist was a team captain so I don't mind it's repeats!
