Wow. I don't even know where to begin with your lack of knowledge of American racing, let alone the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I won't even try to touch on your arrogance and air of superiority over Americans. The road course set up inside the oval was far from a botch job, (I was there, and it provided great racing). Now it lays host to MotoGP and come to think of it, I have never heard one driver or rider make one negative remark about the road course.
The F1 race even utilized part of the oval, which gave us high speeds and a banked turn, something Herman Tilke has yet to learn about. Plus the banked turn was NOT the problem, it was the tire manufacturers. They were simply NOT prepared for the Indy track surface which is unique. Americans historically are not as in to F1 b/c traditionally it was more of a European series, while we had Indy Car (which by the way has always incorporated road courses).
Finally, your lack of respect for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is typical for a European. You guys would hate to think that America has something better than you. Plus, when we got to host the event, it was no surprise to me that the attendance was higher than any other race on the calender.
Americans LOVE racing, and if the event ever returned to Indy, I guarantee it will resume its spot as the highest attended event on the calender. Finally, it's clear to me that you have never visited Indy to experience the sheer size and magnitude of the complex. If you knew an ounce of it's history, and went to the track and experienced a race, then you would understand why it is so great. Yet you make comments from what you see on a TV screen, then suddenly you're an expert.
