2am observation, will come back later for more. LJ as a network is dying as it'll get fewer and fewer new users. But LJ as a blogging platform remains strong. The reason I use LJ is because it's VERY good for personal blogging, and some of the featuresets simply haven't been duplicated at all.

It could've been a great social network and blogging platform, the site to end all sites. Instead it's merely a pretty good blogging platform that's not being marketed as such. Vox was a massive mistake; they should've launched it as LJ-lite with a UI aimed at new users but fully interoperable.

I've obviously very heavily got into the LJ community, I have an "LJ got me laid" icon to upload made by the girl I just went to the cinema with who also met her girlfriend through LJ. It helped, I suspect, that many of my real life friends are still active LJers, and I've met a lot more people through LJ than anything else. But then, it appeals to and is used by a lot of goth/alt types, which means my 'type' of person is more likely to be on there.

Meh; I said short comment, ah well, more to follow, possibly a follow up post in fact.

Wait, is this me? I feel so uncool. :D
