It really is strange to view the loss of “Flag” within such a short space of time.
I’m only 45 but the lack of understanding of “Flag” through history is incredible!
People literally DIED for the flag…It was you…It was your heritage….your gang …..your culture….your family…EVERYTHING! So many wars and battles, where to carry the flag, was an honour! ( Most likely to be killed!)
Where are we now?

I’m scared for our future…we are weak…We have lost basic values of goodness and caring. If someone could lend me a few bob…..I’d go tomorrow.

Crossy, you’re right about the t-shirt thing. I remember Scotland’s cricket strip for the 1999 World Cup had the Saltire across it and it looked absolutely fantastic.

It’s only an issue in the US because the Republicans are desperately trying to find some issues for their base to get excited about in an attempt to recover their popularity.

I disagree about the lighter saltire, I think it’s a nicer shade of blue – makes it seem less sober and serious. Whether that’s the right thing for a flag…

Current US policies on various things make me sometimes wonder whether the state portrayed in “Escape from LA” is so far fetched after all…
It’s not new though – take a look at Futurama from a while back – they had a episode with interplanetary war over a flag eating (and burning later on in the same episode).
Think the Saltire makes a better T-shirt than the St George’s – the latter tends to look like you’ve spilt your chips down your front!
