Scottish Executive bans access to blogs

12 January 2006 20:52

According to Holyrood Chronicles, the Scottish Executive is using a firewall that prevents officials from accessing blogs, which I think is outrageous.

…if the Executive chooses to cut its officials off from the expression of views by an admittedly self-selecting segment of public opinion, then hell mend them.

    On the one hand, WTF?

On the other, I’m not supposed to access the net for personal use at work, private organisations don’t like that sort ofthing. So given that reading blogs is rarely if ever going to be needed, then, well, maybe.

But then, if they’re policy makers or advisers, that’s really stupid, some pretty high end academics and similar are blogging these days. Ah well.
