I have sighted a white squirrel in Aberdeenshire. Never knew they existed. No sighting of red squirrels thou. I’ve heard most red squirrels around this area have been wiped out by a mistery illness…

My wife and I watched an albino squirrel (pure bushy white fur and pink eyes) feed off our bird nut holder, for 30 minutes, on Saturday 30th October 2005. This was in the Edinburgh, Cramond area. While it kept an eye on us, I managed to get quite close, and took digital video and camera shots. I thought it appeared to be more tame than the greys. Probably the large supply of good nuts had something to do with it.
