I guess it was too optimistic to think that getting rid of FPTP was likely under this Labour government.
The Prime Minister has replaced the pro-reform cabinet minister, Peter Hain, as chairman of the cabinet committee on electoral policy with Mr Prescott, in a move that infuriated MPs in favour of PR. Mr Prescott has made it clear to colleagues that there is no question of reviving PR for parliamentary elections.

has said is “like putting Herod in charge of a maternity wardâ€. I’m not clever enough to think of a variation but if you are, go and add it here . From Tim Worstall – Britblog Roundup, very readable snippets from blogs that you might not normally read such as this little gem.

We have listened…
“Herod” Prescott is a good response though. Perhaps some some sort of ongoing competition is in order.
“It’s like putting Hannibal Lector in charge of the carvery”
or
“It’s like putting Jodie Marsh in charge of MediaWatch”
or
“It’s like putting Glen Hoddle in charge of a national football team”.
Oh wait, that last one’s probably just too silly.
