So Edinburgh has rejected the congestion charge. By 3 : 1 apparently.
Until a couple of weeks ago I hadn’t really come across anybody who was against it. I know I don’t venture far out of uni-land in Edinburgh though. But even my Economics lecturer said he was in favour of congestion charging (he hinted that the proposed scheme was not necessarily the ideal one though).
Don’t know much about it myself though; I never read into it because I didn’t have a vote, what with me not actually living in Edinburgh and all… I probably would’ve voted yes though, if mainly because of a purely irrational hatred of cars and drivers.
