I sent an email to the BBC yesterday saying I thought it was okay that they broadcast Jerry Springer: The Opera. Extract:
Please let Saturday evening be a victory for freedom of speech, and a
blow for needless censorship. As the broadcast is scheduled to go out
well after the 9 o’clock watershed, the BBC should feel no need to
pull or edit the programme.
They replied this afternoon with an email which began:
We are sorry to hear that you have concerns about the programme and hope we can give you some reassurance about both the BBC’s reasons for the planned broadcast and the nature of the production itself.
This email went along like that for about eight paragraphs. I hope it was just something they pulled out of the library…
